# Connection

All WS connections have a 30 minute connection duration. Users must incorporate reconnection logic in order to maintain streaming uptime of channels. An example of this can be found here:

{% tab title="Reconnect Example" %}

```typescript
/*
TypeScript Sample Code
NOTE: since this is an API,  WS logic can be written in any language. This example
is in typescript, but the overall sequence will be the same for any language.
*/
import { WebSocket } from 'ws'
// Example if Containerized API runtime is local
const url = `ws://localhost:${process.env.HTTP_PORT}`
const MOCK_API_KEY = '3423ee2bfd89491f82b351404'
const authMessage: AuthMessage = {
  type: "AUTH",
  apiKey: MOCK_API_KEY,
  body: null
}
const connect = () => {
  const wsConnection = new WebSocket(url)
  wsConnection.on('open', function() {
    // send AuthMessage to authorize connection
    wsConnection.send(JSON.stringify(authMsg))
  });
  wsConnection.on('close', function() {
   // reconnect after 500 ms
    setTimeout(connect, 500);
  });
}
connect()
```

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.premia.blue/developer-center/apis/containerized-api/websockets-reference/connection.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
